
Fennel
(Foeniculum Vulgara Mill)
Fennel is a biennial to perennial herbaceous plant that reaches stature heights of 40 to 200 cm and smells spicy (aniseed). The stalk round stalk is bald and bluish frosted. The plant forms bulbous onions with its storage leaves. The two- to three-pinnate leaves are slit hair-like. The petioles have 2 to 2.5 cm long, hooded shaped leaf sheaths. The petioles of the lower leaves are 5 to 15 cm long.

Fennel contains essential oils, silicic acid, mineral salts, starch, vitamins A, B and C. The vitamin C content of the fresh plant (leaves) per 100 g fresh weight is 247.3 mg.Fennel honey is used as a traditional home remedy for colds and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
