
Coriander
(Coriandrum Sativum)
The real coriander grows as an annual herbaceous plant. The stature height is between 30 and 90 cm depending on location, variety and use.The smell of the plant parts is very similar to the smell of the exhalation of various types of bugs.The strong aroma, which is determined by the high aldehyde content and perceived as musky, lemon-like or soapy, gives the fresh coriander herb an unmistakable character that many people in Europe and Asia feel they need getting used to.
Ingredients
Die Samen des Korianders enthalten Korianderöl, ca. 0,3–2 % ätherisches Öl (Oleum coriandri aethereum, destillatum), welches überwiegend aus den Monoterpenen; Linalool, Campher, γ-Terpin und α-Pinen u. a. besteht. Die Zusammensetzung variiert auch je nach Reifestadium der Samen.Besonders diese Stoffe sorgen für den angenehmen Geruch der Samen und kommen erst nach der Trocknung zur Geltung.
